Tips for guys
- Don't try and over impress her by taking her to a fancy restaurant where you both feel uncomfortable - take her somewhere nice, and affordable. That way you'll know the dress code (and you'll know you can afford the bill!) so you can both relax!
- Don't think that women always want the grand gestures of expensive presents and posh perfume. Sometimes all a lady likes to hear is how much you fancy her and how pretty she is. You might feel a bit cringy saying it, but hey - it's free!
- Pick her up from home in a cab before the date. Ladies will love the chivalry and you get a cheaper ride on your night out!
- When you're out in a club and have seen a lady you like, don't approach her with all your mates, speak to her on your own and offer to buy her a drink, sometimes big groups of lads can intimidate ladies. This also means when you offer to buy her a drink, you don't have to buy a whole round for your mates as well!
- Get a cab to her door, then nip to the nearest stop and catch the bus home.
- Dates don't have to cost you the earth. Let her think that you're posh and clever and take her to the museum or suggest a walk in the park, yeah they sound geeky but she'll love the gesture, and they're free!
- Going to the cinema? See if you can take your own snacks, and save cash! Can't take your own snacks? Have something to eat before you nip in to watch the flick!
- On your way to a day date, if you've forgotten to put on a spritz of aftershave, stop off at a department store and have a spray of a sexy musky scent. She might even move in closer to get a better smell and you might find a new aftershave to buy!
- Instead of offering to buy a lady a glass of wine, offer to buy all her friends a drink and then buy a bottle of wine. It can sometimes work out the same price as a few glasses of wine and you'll be well in with her mates!
- For a birthday or Valentines Day buy flowers from the supermarket and take them out of the wrapping and wrap them in your own paper.
Tips for girls
- Save money on your food, and instead of a trip to the cinema, ask him to buy you dinner instead!
- Ask him to walk you home so you don't have to have to go halves on a cab.
- Don't think that dates have to be expensive, a walk round the park costs nothing - plus it's free exercise!
- Fancy a lad? Go and watch him play footie with his Sunday League team. He'll love you for it, his team mates will love you watching cos it'll make him try harder and it's free to watch!
- Strapped for cash? Get a DVD out and invite him round to yours. Get a scary film and you'll have an excuse to cozy up to him in the frightening bits!
- Make your own free dating agency! Ask your bloke mates to each send you a mobile snap of one of their single pals. There's got to be a fit one there!
- If it's the summer, take him for a picnic in the park. Buy the grub from a supermarket and have a cheap romantic day out.
- Make a Valentine's Day or birthday present for him instead of splashing out loads. Buy some beer from a supermarket, put it in a fancy box and wrap it up. What a perfect present for a bloke!
- If you're going on a night out with your boyfriend, invite him round for drinks before you hit a club. Save the cash that you'd spend at a bar!
- If there are offers on when you are out and about, use them. We're sure he won't think you're stingy; he'll love you for saving him cash!
